Not this time, though.

While it’s been five years since Microsoft unveiled the Xbox 360 (and four since the Wii and PlayStation 3 debuted), the game industry is letting things ride, offering updates and new play techniques to existing consoles, but not making enormous financial bets on true next-generation machines. And, for the most part, everyone seems okay with that.

Still the ones.

The lingering recession and rising game development costs are partially to blame for the lack of new machines. As game systems have matured, the cost of making triple-A games has soared. Tent pole titles now cost (on average) between $20 million and $40 million — and there are some extreme examples, like Rockstar Games’ blockbusters “Red Dead Redemption” and “GTA IV,” that have reportedly sailed past the $100 million mark.

Next-gen games will cost even more. With publishers struggling to achieve a profit in the current economy, no one is in a hurry to add to their expense sheet.

Console manufacturers are no different. Developing a new system is phenomenally expensive. Worse yet, Sony and Microsoft typically sell them at a loss for the first two or three years, making their money back on royalties from game software systems. (Nintendo has always sold its hardware for a profit, which is part of the reason the company has so much money in the bank.)

Currently, all three manufacturers have lowered their costs to a point where they make money on each console sale – and while hardware sales are slipping somewhat, they’re still relatively strong. Believe it or not, there are still some retailers who have trouble keeping the PS3 or Wii in stock.

So, with strong demand and lower costs, there’s no incentive for Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo to roll out a next-generation console at this point. But there’s another reason the next generation won’t emerge until 2013 or 2014, at least.

We’ve seen some graphically amazing games on the Xbox 360 and PS3 to date — and some wildly creative titles for the Wii — but no one in the industry truly believes they have come close to tapping the full potential of any machine.

Developers like to do that before moving on to the next system. Often, the defining games of a system come just before it is overshadowed by its successor. The PS2 favorite “God of War” hit stores just as rumbles about the PlayStation 3 were beginning to build. And smash shooter “Perfect Dark” was released for the N64 when many people were more curious about the forthcoming GameCube.

While the Wii isn’t the sales powerhouse it once was, the system still outsells the competition by a healthy margin each month. And Nintendo’s games have long retail lives, giving them a steady stream of income with fewer titles.

For the Xbox 360 and the PS3, the launch of Kinect and Move will attempt to lure the casual audience while giving core gamers party games they’re not embarrassed to play. (Granted, those titles are in short supply in the launch lineups.)

And since both companies are able to add new features to their systems via downloadable upgrades, users can get those previously unimaginable features without shelling out for a new system. For instance, no one thought they’d be able to stream Netflix through their game machine when these systems launched.

Make no mistake: While there have been some naysayers, a new generation of console systems will most definitely arrive sooner or later. Streaming cloud game services like OnLive are showing some potential, but won’t reach critical mass for many years. While no companies are talking directly about the next generation, there have been some hints from publishers that work is underway.

But it’s going to be a while before anyone outside of the industry gets a look at ‘em.

Game makers like Sony Computer Entertainment, Nintendo, Electronic Arts, Capcom, Take-Two Interactive, and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will unveil stereoscopic 3D video games at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles next week where over 45,000 game industry professionals check out the big titles of the next year.

“Gamers are the early adopters and once they experience games in 3D, they’re not going to want to go back,” said Oscar-winning producer Jon Landau, who worked with Ubisoft last year to release the first 3D console video game, “James Cameron’s Avatar.”

Sony Computer Entertainment will publicly unveil its first big 3D PlayStation 3 video game, developer Guerilla Games’ Killzone 3, at E3 which is running from June 15-17.

The latest installment in the bestselling science fiction shooter franchise has been developed from the ground up to take advantage of stereo 3D.

Developer Polyphony Digital is enhancing the upcoming “Gran Turismo 5″ PS3 racing game into a 3D experience, which will also be on display at Sony’s booth.

“3D is the natural progression of video game technology and it allows us to replicate the experience you have when driving a real car,” said Taku Imasaki, producer of “Gran Turismo 5,” Sony Computer Entertainment America.

Anyone who owns a PS3 can download a free firmware upgrade to turn the game console into a 3D machine that will play both 3D video games and Blu-ray 3D movies.

“When you play a (2D) video game today, it’s almost like you’re playing with one eye closed,” said David Coombes, platform research manager, Sony Computer Entertainment America.

Sony is practicing synergy across its electronics, video game and home entertainment divisions to get 3D into homes.

Consumers who purchase any of the new 3D Bravia TVs, which will be released in the United States next month, will get a copy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” Blu-ray 3D and a voucher for four PS3 games.

Attendees at Microsoft’s annual E3 press conference are accustomed to flashy game announcements and big-budget trailers, but the company had a surprise in store at today’s Los Angeles event. The Xbox 360 is getting a slimmer, angular new look, and an internal redesign that’ll reduce noise and add much-wanted new features — and it’ll be in stores as soon as this week.

Packing a black-finished case with prominent cooling vents, the new machine — nicknamed the Xbox “Slim” by fans — will retail for $299, the same price as the current 120 GB Xbox 360 Elite system. It will be compatible with all Xbox 360 games and hardware, with the exception of old-style external hard drives and memory cards.

It’s not any more powerful, but the redesigned 360 nevertheless addresses a number of recurring gripes with the existing design: aside from being smaller, it’s quieter, includes built-in super-fast 802.11n wireless networking, and packs an internal, replaceable 250 GB hard drive.

It’s also equipped with a smaller power supply, a dedicated connector for Microsoft’s upcoming Kinect motion control system, and five USB ports. A matching black wireless controller will ship with the system.

Conflicting reports exist on whether the older models will remain on sale, but according to at least one specialist blog, the normally reliable Joystiq, Microsoft is indeed “no longer manufacturing the original Xbox 360 hardware in any form.”

Alternatively, Microsoft is cutting prices of the existing Xbox range to $149 for the basic Arcade model, and $249 for the upgraded Elite. It’s unclear whether that’s a time-limited clearance offer, or if it’ll be permanent — but if you want to snag a cheap Xbox, and you’re not too bothered about getting the brand-new Slim, this could be your chance.

One Piece is a long-running Shonen Manga series that has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since August 4, 1997. The individual chapters was first released on December 24, 1997 and the 56th volume released as of December 2009. In 2009, Shueisha announced that they sold 176 million volumes of One Piece manga so far, making it the highest selling manga in history. One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Excellent story & drama with really good fighting sequences that make this anime so addictive that I was not able to leave the TV until I watched all of the episodes till now, The three movies are also worth every penny, Based on soul related theory of  good souls turning into bad souls when some desire  is left unfull filled. These bad souls form shape of different monsters & creatures that have unique powers and positions. I will leave the rest to the viewer to decide, but personally I love Bleach. Till now more than 230 episodes are launched and beleive me one cannot get enough.
